Itinerary

Day 1: Manali-Solang Nalla- Shagadugh (4Km/4-5 Hrs)

Reporting at Manali before 10 and drive to Solang Valley. Normally it takes around 1 hr from Manali rest depends upon on traffic. From Solang Nalla we will start our first day trekking. This section of Patalsu Peak trekking will transport you to the beautiful meadow of Shagadugh. You will meander through mixed forests of oak and pine, and as you reach higher altitudes, you will see giant slopes of the Solang Valley. You will continue hiking through the valley, and pass the village of Solang. After a long and grueling climb, you will reach Shagadugh. Shagadugh is lush alpine grassland. Overnight stay in tents at Shagadugh.

Day 2: Shagadugh- Patalsu Peak- Shagadugh (8Km/7-8 Hrs)

Second day will start with worm up exercise and starching .After early breakfast our trek will start. The trek has a steep ascend for the peak. The panoramic views of the Mt.Shitidhar, Mt.Friendship and Mt. Manali peaks from the peak are quite mesmerizing. We will then start our descend to Shagadugh camp. Overnight stay in tents at Shagadugh.

Day 3: Shagadugh-Solang Nalla-Manali (4 km/3-4 Hrs)

Third day will start with worm up exercise and starching .After breakfast we will start descend for Solang Valley from Shagadugh camp. Jeep ride from Solang valley to Manali. We will be at Manali around 3-4 pm.

If you are beginner kindly offload your backpack, because trekking with heavy backpack in mountains is not an easy task especially when you are carrying around 8-10 kg uphill.

If you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule/porter. Charges of offloading backpack 300per Day. Inform us in advance so that we can arrange.
The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kg. Backpack should have waterproof cover.

How to Reach Manali:-

By Air:-

Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi by air.Kindly check online for other informations.

By Road:-

Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 - 14 hours. Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in.
Like the onward journey, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 6 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 and 10 am. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delays.

What to take:-

Trekking shoes: There will be several slippery patches on the trail, and you will need trekking shoes with good grip. Sports shoes will not be comfortable enough.

Backpack (50-60 liter): A backpack with sturdy straps and a supporting frame. Rain cover for backpack is essential.

Two warm layers: At the campsites, especially the higher ones, the temperature after sundown will drop to around 2-6 degrees. You will need at least three warm layers (two lights layers such as fleece and woolen and one padded jacket) for this trek.

Two trek pants: One pair of pants should suffice for this trek. But you can carry one spare pair in case the first one gets wet. Wear one pair and carry one pair.

Two collared t-shirts: Carry light, full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Again, wear one and carry one.

Thermals (Optional): Those who are more susceptible to cold can carry thermals to wear at night.

Accessories:-

  • Sunglasses: Sunglasses are to prevent snow blindness. There might be snow closer to the lake, so carry a pair of sunglasses.
  • Sun cap: The sun is more
  • Hand gloves: One pair of fleece or woolen hand gloves. One pair of water proof/resistant, wind proof gloves.
  • Balaclava: You may use woolen scarves instead as well.
  • Socks (3-4 pairs): You can take a pair of woolen socks for the day one at night and one as backup.
  • Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory
  • Trekking pole: It will you a lot while ascending as well as descending.
  • Daypack (20 liter): If you are offloading your backpack, you will need a smaller backpack to carry water, medical kit and some light snacks.
  • Toiletries (Sunscreen, moisturizer, light towel, lip balm, toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste)
  • Two water bottles: 1 liter each
  • Plastic covers: While packing, use plastic bags to compartmentalize things and carry few extra plastic bags for wet clothes.

  • ORS – 10 packets
  • Betadine or any antiseptic cream
