Day 1: Kasol to Grahan village (2,350m) 10 km, 5-6 Hrs
Drive from Kasol to Barshaini .It is a small old village. Barshaini is starting point. Trail is easy to navigate and is frequently used by villagers. The trail is with gentle slope and after crossing the river stream or “Nala” the trail becomes little rocky and steep. Grahan Village is a beautiful village with traditional old houses and surrounded by Rhododendron trees.
Day 2: Grahan to Min Thach (3,400 m) 7 km, 5-6 hrs
The trail to Min Thach is commonly used by locals to access their farms or cattle. This dense forest trail goes all the way to Min Thach. After trekking for a couple of hours we find ourselves in Min Thach. “Thach“means meadow in the local language, much like ‘Kanda’ or ‘Bugyal’ it is where the villagers bring their cattle to graze.
Day 3: Min Thach to Nagaru (3,800 m) 8 km,6-7 hrs
We start early in the morning for Nagaru and today it is going to be a bit longer as the some parts of the trail will be under snow. The first leg of today's trek can be a little adventurous and tricky in case of snow. In the second leg of the trek, we reach a welcoming hill top. This is the Nagaru campsite.
Day 4: Nagaru-Sar Pass(4,200 m)-Biskeri Thach(3,350 m ) 14 km , 7-8 hrs
Rise early morning do some stretching exercise and have healthy breakfast and get ready for the long day to trek to Biskeri Thatch via Sar Pass. We follow the ridge line in southward direction. It is steep in some sections. Climbing up, we keep the pace slow and steady. After climbing for a couple of hours we reach Sar Pass. Towards your east you'll be able to see the peaks of Tosh valley. Spend some quality time at Sar Pass Top and have your packed lunch and start the downhill trek to Biskeri Thatch. While descending you can slide through some sections.
Day 5: Biskeri Thach to Barshaini (to 2,400 m) to Kasol, 9 km, 6-7 hrs
After breakfast we descent from Biskeri Thach, taking the dense forest trail. The forest opens up when we reach Pulga. The descent is steep in some patches and rocky in others. It is surrounded by enchanting grassland and dry channels of woods. From Pulga we will continue to descend to cross Parvati River and then climb to reach village Barshaini. From Barshaini, drive to Kasol.
If you are beginner kindly offload your backpack, because trekking with heavy backpack in mountains is not an easy task especially when you are carrying around 8-10 kg uphill.
If you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule/porter. Charges of
offloading backpack 300 per Day. Inform us in advance so that we can arrange.
The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kg. Backpack should have waterproof cover.
The nearest airport Bhuntar Airport (IATA code KUU) is at Bhuntar town, situated on NH21. The airport is also known as Kullu-Manali airport and has more than a kilometre long runway. Air India and some private airlines have regular flights to the airport. Chandigarh Airport is the nearest international airport.
Kasol is 30 km from Bhunter, and Bhunter can be reached from Delhi. Buses (including Volvo and Mercedes Benz) on this route are available from all major bus terminals.
Kasol is not easily approachable by rail. The nearest broad gauge railheads are at Chandigarh (275 km (171 mi)), Pathankot (325 km (202 mi)) and Kalka (310 km (193 mi)). The nearest narrow gauge railhead is at Joginder Nagar (135 kilometres (84 mi)).
Trekking shoes: There will be several slippery patches on the trail, and you will need trekking shoes with good grip. Sports shoes will not be comfortable enough.
Backpack (50-60 liter): A backpack with sturdy straps and a supporting frame. Rain cover for backpack is essential.
Two warm layers: At the campsites, especially the higher ones, the temperature after sundown will drop to around 2-6 degrees. You will need at least three warm layers (two lights layers such as fleece and woolen and one padded jacket) for this trek.
Two trek pants: One pair of pants should suffice for this trek. But you can carry one spare pair in case the first one gets wet. Wear one pair and carry one pair.
Two collared t-shirts: Carry light, full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Again, wear one and carry one.
Thermals (Optional): Those who are more susceptible to cold can carry thermals to wear at night.
